When the weather decided to rain on our parade (literally) for this cutie’s *first* one year session, we made the executive decision to go for round number two! And let me tell you…I’m SO glad that we did! The sun was shining and Sweet little E was an absolute doll πŸ™‚

I think it’s safe to say that I’m not the best about blogging. Just the thought of it exhausts me. I pour so much of my own heart and soul into my sessions that it’s extremely difficult to pick and choose which images to share with the masses. It takes me foreeeeeever to make a decision! Sometimes a session comes along that I know I have to share. It would be an injustice to the general publicΒ to not to πŸ˜‰

Enjoy your sneak peek sweet friend. I loved hanging with your crew and meeting your newest addition πŸ™‚

I can’t believe 6 months has come and gone with this little one! I guess time flies when you’re having…babies. Sweet little Simon was my last scheduled session before MY own little one arrived (a week later!). We decided to head up to the studio to capture little man’s 1/2 birthday. I’ve said it before and I’ll say again (and again, and again), 6 months is my favorite age to shoot! Hands down, without a doubt, my favorite. They’re just starting to sit up, but they’re not too mobile yet. Those giant gummy smiles. Maybe a tooth or two. I eat it up. Sweet little S did not disappoint! He was a ham for the camera and I had so much fun catching up with mom and dad. It’s fun to have littles the same age. “How’s he sleeping?” “Is she eating yet?” “What’s your secret to the perfect nap?” Such a fun chapter in the book of life. Can’t wait to see you guys in another 6 months πŸ™‚

For anyone interested in a studio mini session, I am now offering these year round! No more waiting around for a specific date. Just shoot me an email and we’ll get you scheduled! Head over to my pricing tab for more info πŸ™‚

What a year 2015 was for HRP! I’ve been meaning to sit down and post a handful of my favorite images from the past year. Well, here we are almost halfway through January and I’m just now getting around to it. Story of my life these days πŸ˜‰ There are SO many more but I have to draw the line somewhere! I’m in awe as I look through all of these. I put my heart and soul into each and every one of them. So many emotions that are hard to put into words.

I continue to go into sessions with an uneasy, nervous pit in my stomach. I find myself questioning constantly…”Will I be creative enough today?” “Will the ‘elements’ cooperate?” “What will the mood be like?” “Will my clients trust my vision?”

I could go on and on! I’ve come to realize that the uneasiness is what continues to push me and give me drive as an artist. I’m always striving to do better. I fear the day that I become complacent and completely comfortable in my business and my passion. When you’re comfortable and just ok with where you are, what will push you to open that closed door to see what’s behind it?

I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store.

Thank you to the best clients a girl could ask for πŸ™‚

I’m not quite sure how long it had been since I had seen this dad. We went to high school together back in the day! Thanks to Facebook, we’ve been able to “keep up” with each others lives. Clint reached out to me via text asking about a last minute family shoot. Things were about to get stressful and hectic with his wife starting chemo that Thursday…was there any way I could squeeze them in before then?

As a photographer, I’m ashamed to say that I am not the best about my own family portraits. Life gets busy. School, activities, work, finances. All reasons to “put it off” for another few months. I was heartbroken when I read that text, but I was thrilled that he reached out to me. Could I fit them in? Even if I couldn’t, I would have made a way to make it happen! I can only imagine that hearing the words cancer, chemo, and radiation stop you in your tracks and bring it all into perspective.

Clint and Betsy, I hope you treasure these pictures and that they bring a smile to your faces! Kudos to you for taking the time out of YOUR crazy schedule to document this time as a family. I can’t wait for our next shoot POST cancer!!!!
